My internship on the Zittraueralm

“Hello, my name is Lisa and this year I get to do my internship on the Zittraueralm. The time on the alm is something very special for me, because here there is a lot to do every day and always something new to experience.

My daily tasks include very different kinds of work. In the morning I make the fire, bring in the milk, sweep and mop, and prepare the snack kitchen for the day. That includes, for example, getting bacon and sausages, cheese and vegetables ready for our guests.

I spend a large part of my internship in the kitchen. There I usually cook lunch and prepare the snacks for our guests. When the guest service is over, we tidy up together and prepare the kitchen for the next day.

Of course the animals are also part of alm life. When the work for the next day is done, I like to stop by our goats, ponies, and donkey Rita in the pasture. After that there’s sometimes still time for a little hike or simply to enjoy the evening on the alm.

I especially like that no day is exactly the same. There is always something to do, but also many beautiful moments in nature. During my internship I’ve already gathered many new experiences and learned quite a bit. I’m very happy to be able to spend a few more days on the alm and enjoy this special time. Your Lisa.”
