For us, farming is not just an experience – it’s our everyday life.

We are home to many different animals that are part of our real working farm. Cows and their young stock, goats, horses, ponies, donkeys, pigs, as well as chickens, ducks, cats and dogs – each species has its own place and special role in our day-to-day farm life. Our animals are not an “attraction” to us, but an important part of our lives. They are fed and cared for every day, and looked after with a great deal of love and responsibility. Depending on the season, there is always something to do in the barn, on the pastures, on the alm and around the farm.

For our young and old guests, it is especially nice to be very close to the animals, to watch them and, in doing so, gain an authentic insight into life on a diverse farm. This naturally creates many special encounters and memories of a holiday at the Zittrauerhof.

Animal adventures in the children’s barn

In the children’s barn, little animal lovers get up close to our farm residents. Rabbits, cats, ducks, pigs, Rita the donkey and the mini pony mare Jasmyne provide plenty to discover and lots of special encounters. Even when it rains, there is plenty to see in the children’s barn and varied farm moments to experience.

Our cow barn

Our animals live in different barns that are tailored to their individual needs. The modern cattle loose housing barn was newly built in 2018 and offers our cows plenty of space and freedom of movement. Here, our guests can get a real insight into the daily work with the animals and into farming at the Zittrauerhof.

From Monday to Friday, children accompanied by a parent can help with feeding in the afternoons and watch the milking. The children’s stable is open all day, where you can visit and pet the animals.

From 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, admission is free.

All animals in the children’s stable stay at the farm year-round; the cows, horses, and goats can be visited on the alm during the summer months from June to the end of August.

Cows, calves, heifers, horses, ponies, donkeys, ‘German Giant’ rabbits, pigs, chickens, ducks, cats, and dogs.

No, but there are two great riding stables nearby; please feel free to ask the farmer’s wife for the addresses.

You can draw a picture or write a letter to the animals in the painting corner, pet the rabbits, observe the other animals and chickens, join in with the afternoon feeding (Monday to Friday), watch the ducks, and much more.

Yes, we have at least 5 different species: cattle, goats, horses, ponies, chickens, ducks, cats, and pigs.

Yes, when the dairy cows are in the valley and not up on the alm, you are welcome to watch the evening milking process.

Yes, Zittrauerhof is a certified children’s and baby farm.

Year-round, the children’s stable is a place to spend time with the animals and paint; in summer: a playground, table tennis, a slide, large board games, go-karts, and much more.

Yes, they can spend time in the children’s stable all year round, and in summer, there are two small play huts in the outdoor area.
