Meet our animal residents
Cows and calves, goats, horses, ponies, donkeys, pigs, chickens, ducks, cats and dogs are all part of life on our farm. Each species has its own role, its own character, and its very special place at Zittrauerhof.
Max & Co – Cats
This is us: Affectionate, deeply relaxed, and often looking for something to eat.
What we love: Gentle strokes and attention.
Our job: Together we keep the mice around the farm in check.
Our favorite spot: Around and in the farmhouse – only the guest rooms are off-limits.
The flock of chickens
This is us: Scratching, pecking, and clucking all day long.
Our job: We provide fresh breakfast eggs for the holiday table.
Our home: In the outdoor area of the children’s barn.
Nelly & Asta
This is us: Good-natured and dutiful working dogs.
Our job: We guard the farm and help herd the animals on the Alm.
Important: During work we want to focus entirely on our task.
Runner duck troop
This is us: Always together and constantly chattering.
Our job: We are the farm’s snail patrol.
What we love: Water, mud, and of course snails.
Dairy cows & calves
Our daily routine: Eating, chewing the cud, resting, and lots of relaxation.
Our job: Our dairy cows provide fresh milk.
What we love: We especially enjoy spending the summer on the Alm.
Pinzgauer mountain goats & Saanen goats
This is us: True climbing artists.
Our job: Landscape maintenance on the Alm.
Our summer: Freedom, mountain air, and fresh herbs.
German Giants
This is us: Curious, cuddly, and always happy to hop around.
What we love: Fresh grass and carrots.
Our place: In the children’s barn.
Noriker broodmares
This is us: Calm and easygoing draft horses.
Our job: We help with landscape maintenance and keep grass areas short.
What we love: Our time on the Alm.
Our pigs
This is us: Intelligent, clean, and extremely curious.
Important: We are not petting animals and prefer to be observed in peace.
What we like: Varied feed, fruit, and vegetables.
Mini pony mare Jasmyne
This is me: Small, friendly, curious, and full of energy.
What I love: Walks with guests and being groomed.
My job: Farm “lawnmower” and companion on walks.
