A farmer’s wife’s free time…

At first, that sounds like a bad movie during the summer slump. But I actually get asked quite often whether I have free time and what I do then?

Yes, I have free time!

Whether a salesman or saleswoman, carpenter, teacher, farmer, hotelier’s wife or mayor, every person needs little time-outs for themselves. Every person needs free time. Every person should not only live for work. And that is exactly what is important to enjoy life, to be strengthened for daily challenges and to be able to switch off.

Every person is different and that is a good thing. That is why the variety of leisure activities and hobbies is infinitely large. Personally, I need my 30 minutes every day all to myself on the balcony. And this time belongs to me alone and no person, no work or cell phone can talk me out of it.

Katharina only needs 30 minutes a day as free time?

Some might think that’s ridiculous, that it’s nothing. For me, it very much is. I don’t have to look far and I know many farmers’ wives and friends who have no time for themselves all day long. Not even this half hour – without being disturbed or needed by someone. I value this time and enjoy it completely.

In addition to my 30 minutes around lunchtime, I also go to a gymnastics class once a week. As a farmer’s wife, you already get quite a bit of exercise, but it is a different kind of sport and a little time-out from everyday life. Even such small things help to take everyday life a bit easier and to love and appreciate yourself. And what’s more, they bring fun and a smile to your face! Once a week I am “stall-free” and can use this time for myself or other work.

For me, it is not only recovery and relaxation when I have time for myself alone or spend it with my family. Especially now in spring, it also gives me great joy to work with the animals. It is absolutely lovely when we bring the little calves out into the fresh air in wonderful weather and let them run on the playground. The lightheartedness while jumping around is a joy to watch and balm for the soul.

And as almost everyone knows, I love my garden! Here in the Gastein Valley, nature is always a part of the leisure program and every free minute I look for work in the outdoor area. For me, there is nothing better than working in the fresh air. For me, the garden and the processing of the products is not work, but a hobby, filled with much joy.
