Of spring in the stable and on the pasture

Spring always brings a lot of new things here with us at Zittrauerhof in the Gastein Valley. Whether renovations, new garden ideas, or new stable residents!

Spring is the time of births here at the farm. Our calves have all already been born and in our children’s barn, all births are over too. But a new farm resident delighted us just last week and we are very happy that this time there is only joyful news.

This time, too, the news comes from our horse stable, because our Noriker mare Perl is truly a good nurse mother and the little one is thriving splendidly.

Especially pleasing is that the beautiful Icelandic mare Kelly has given birth to her first foal. Kelly herself was also born at Zittrauerhof and we are very proud of her for now giving us offspring too!

Already last year we reported that Kelly’s mother Kria no longer lives with us at the farm, but moved to Northern Germany to be able to experience a few more beautiful years there despite her illness. She is doing well and no longer has any complaints thanks to the sea climate.

But it’s not just in the horse stable that things are happening, there’s also a lot going on in the cow stable and for the last few days you can see our cows stomping happily across the pastures again, because the winter stable days are over! A beautiful sight to see your own animals on the lush green meadows again and how they sprint onto the meadow.

And already the pictures show not only the lush grass, but also the radiant dandelions. And of course I couldn’t resist conjuring up a few delicious and healthy things from them again this year.
