The scent of jam in winter ?????

Winter is finally here! Right after the Christmas holidays :-) Mother Holle brought us the long-awaited natural snow. Now the mountain railways could open all the slopes and start full ski operations.

With snow, winter is simply completely different for us: Whether snowman, snowball fight, sledding or a long snow walk, it doesn’t matter, because it’s all tremendous fun! And when you come back into the warm house to warm up, it smells of freshly cooked jam…. Jam? In winter? What’s gotten mixed up here?

Canning blueberry jam – that’s fun ….

But no, that’s quite right! Because when the jars in my pantry are running low, something new has to be made for the breakfast table. After all, we don’t want to send our guests off into the day without a sweet treat. And so even in ice and snow, the pots, the fruit and everything else you need are fetched from the cupboard, the cellar and the freezer. In the last few days the blueberry jam and the applesauce ran low. But apples are stored in the cellar for the whole winter and blueberries can still be found in the freezer. And so summery scents fill the kitchen in no time.

And not only the guests are happy about the homemade jams or the applesauce, we also like to eat it: Kaiserschmarrn with applesauce or blueberry jam with natural yogurt.

Give it a try! Cooking jam while looking out the window at the snow-covered fields and mountains! A wonderful combination!!
