To the deer whisperer in the Angertal

A NATURAL SPECTACLE of a SPECIAL KIND

Today I’d like to tell you about a very special encounter from my farm stories.

Since our guests and friends raved so much about the trip to the deer whisperer in the Angertal, we set off ourselves to drive with Thomas Tscherne to the most beautifully located feeding station in the romantic Angertal. The drive up alone was an experience for us: in the finest weather and with a wonderful panorama, we rode up to the alpine pasture at an easy pace in the special vehicle. Twice a day, he feeds the red deer there at almost 1,800 m – up close and in the wild, we sit on benches right in the middle of the feeding area.

Thomas’s calming words, the same sounds every day during feeding, the tapping with the shovel, and always the same feeding routine at the same time give the animals security, and the animals give Thomas their trust – after years of getting closer and endless patience.

And so, during the feeding, Thomas tells many a story about his favourite stags – how the class rep got his name, the quirks of Feignuss and Bambi, and so on.

Even if you have nothing to do with hunting, it’s an unadulterated, special experience for anyone who loves animals and nature, and definitely worth the money. It’s a way to come down, switch off, enjoy, and simply be allowed to take part in an unadulterated natural spectacle. However, you shouldn’t be under time pressure, because the red deer don’t come at a whistle; they are still wild animals that decide for themselves when they come, whether they come, and how long they want to stay.
