Life on the alpine pasture: Insight into Manuel’s everyday internship life

Time and again, we are happy to welcome interns to our farm or up on the alpine pasture who spend a part of their time with us. Anyone who decides on an alpine summer experiences something very special. Once the alpine life has inspired you, the so-called “alpine fever” often doesn’t let you go.

This summer, Manuel is among those supporting us, and he has already been gripped by alpine fever. He gives us a little insight into his everyday life on the alpine pasture and tells us what he likes so much about this special time.

“My name is Manuel and I am spending my first alpine summer this year. I am on the alpine pasture until mid-August and I really like it.

What I enjoy most is working with the animals. I especially like milking the cows because I simply enjoy spending time with them.

My tasks include fencing and clearing the hiking trails. I regularly check the fences with Matthias and we make sure that the animals are doing well. I also do many other jobs on the alpine pasture. We keep everything clean, repair broken things, and help out wherever help is needed.

I also help out at the alpine snack station. There, I prepare snacks for the guests. For example, I prepare Brettljausen and also make sweet things like Profesen or apple rings.

I really enjoy life on the alpine pasture. I’m out in nature every day, working with the animals and with a great team. I’m having a lot of fun during my internship and have already learned so much new.
